For a special way to honor Black History Month, guitarist/composer A. Spencer Barefield leads an extraordinary multigenerational ensemble. They'll perform works by legendary Black composers and musical trailblazers, including recently departed giants Geri Allen and Muhal Richard Abrams, and decades of works by Barefield commissioned by the Kresge Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Meet the Composer, MCACA, and others. The concert is held in a magnificent Palmer Woods Tudor filled with Africa, Asia and 20th-21st Century African-America art. A soul food-inspired meal is served during intermission with chicken, mac n cheese, greens, peach cobbler and more....
